I bought Fiesta brand plates in dark blue. I love them! I've had the set for over 5 years and haven't broken anything yet. They're a classic! They're fun to get in every color, too, spice it up a little.

My everyday dishes are Pfaltzgraff Amalfi Mediterranean pattern. I got married in 1999, so this set is long discontinued. But I definately reccommend looking into a Pfaltzgraff set. These are strong, sturdy, and 8 years later still in great condition! The colors are vibrant-not dull as you might think after all this time of being washed. All my accesories match: serving bowls and platters, glassware, baking dishes, casserole dish, etc.

Someone also mentioned Fiestaware too, and I also reccommend this brand. It holds up equally to Pfaltzgraff and the color combinations and endless.

I use my daily dishes at holidays too. I do have fine china, but with kids around, I'd rather have an accidental break of teh everyday stuff.

If you are looking for china to register, I would choose the most basic. Don't get anything that is so fancy you will only use it twice a year. Enjoy the gifts you will receive. Use it. Nothing lasts forever. Food always looks it best on basic china. You want people to admire your food, not your plates. Even the most basic china can be dressed up with charger plates for a more " special " occasions.

IIkea, white square and rectangular. Its nice to eat off of white crockery being square makes for a good presentation.
If everything you have is white you don't have trouble matching thing up and if you want you can add boldness by buying a few plain brightly coloured pieces.
