the poor guy must have felt so out of place. yes it was your friends fault. the next day I hope you called your friend and told her how uncomfortable and embarrassed you felt. By only having bread to serve him. Unless your friend did not know her date was a vegetarian. I guess you will have to ask your friend. I would have felt bad for the guy. I would have had to find something for him to eat. Even if it was a salad. I am sure he felt so out of place and embarrassed for being put in the situation and for you being put in the situation. Next time you invite guests. Make sure your friend knows a head of time what her date eats.

Your friend should have told you that her date was a vegetarian.
He choose to only eat bread, that is not your fault.
He must have a difficult time in life, being so rigid in his diet choices.
Do not feel badly, it was totally her responsibility to tell you ahead of time.
I have friends that cannot or will not eat certain foods, and when we get together for meals, they will eat a small amount of what is served, or they will bring food that they like to be prepared as part of the meal.
Have a good day.

your individuals new guy (AKA your ex) would have already spilled the beans on your chum which you have been mutually. that's a hard one as a results of fact any way you look at your thoughts you have a dilemna. you will desire to weigh the experts and cons of this one first. Your husband would desire to understand although - you're married and it is not in any respect reliable to maintain secrets and methods out of your companion. And if your husband feels awkward approximately being around your ex then understand his needs and that they you will would desire to reveal on your why yoru husband feels awkward around him - being yoru ex. How might you sense if your husband's male chum delivered over a sparkling gal and it replaced into HIS ex? turn the tables and ask yoruself in case you will possibly decide to appreciate or no longer. desire it works out. yet the two way sounds such as you have a dilemna no be counted what.

Yes, that is if she knew. Not everyone is vegetarian and it can be complicated trying to find a dish that everyone can be happy with if regular meat eaters. I really think you should not judge to harshly- I think this may have been somethign that was a shock to your friend as well, if it was, I am sure she felt even worse.

Absolutely! Don't feel bad about it - if he had dietary restrictions he should have let you know about them or brought something with him that he could eat.
I don't think that it's fair to go to a dinner party and expect the host/hostess to cater to a special diet when they're cooking for a crowd and you're in the minority.

yeah she should have, what would have been cool tho is if you whipped up some pasta for him quick or somehting simple but meatless so he would have something to eat. it was wrong of your friend, but it would have been so classy if you played susie hommaker and got him something in a jiffy

absolutely, she needs an etiquette foot in the rear. she should have told you, asked about the menu and declined the invitation if it was unable to be changed

Your friend acted in a boorish manner by not telling you her friend was a vegan. There was no salad for him?
