A friend of mine had sex with a hooker last night and he is freaked out that he has an STD, although he assure me that he used condom and did not perform oral sex at all. He did not even touch the women's genitals.

Is it possible to have an STD even though you did use condoms and you did not perform oral sex?

First of all AIDS is NOT transferable through saliva (unless there is blood in it). If AIDS was transferable that way - over half of the population would have it. Condoms however, are not 100% on a good day. Your friend should go get checked by a doctor immediately - some STD's are transferred by touch (warts/herpes) and no exchange of fluids is necessary. He may also want to stop having sex with prostitutes.

Just as it is not 100% effective in preventing pregnancy, it is not 100% effective in preventing STDs. It's hard to imagine with all the information out there about STDs and AIDS that people still seek sex from hookers. They don't care about spreading diseases. They just want the money. Please tell your friend to get checked by a doctor. One time won't do it. He will need to be checked every 3 or 4 months for a year to be sure he doesn't convert to HIV positive.

Condoms are not always 100% effective against STDs, especially STDs that can be spread by DIRECT skin to skin contact like herpes and HPV.

Even if your friend used a condom, it's only covering his penis and not his entire genital area. Just the rubbing back and forth of the genital areas during sex or foreplay is enough to spread either one of these viruses.

Take care!

You could get an STD for having unprotected sex. There's a chance that you might and might not get an STD for using a condom. And there's no way you could get an STD for not having sex. So don't you think is better not to have sex at all??

i think aids is transferable through saliva. PLEASE have your friend go to a clinic and get tested. its better to know if he has one and prevent passing something onto someone else.
