I think because some people are allergic to peanuts.
That has put the Compassion Fascists into full-on nanny mode. In many schools, kids are not allowed to bring ANYTHING with peanuts in them for lunch, because they MIGHT give them to their classmates, who MIGHT be allergic to peanuts.
When I was a kid in school, we didn't have the Peanut Police, and no one I know died of peanutification.

We need certain fats to survive and a certain intake of fats-Peanuts are high in the good kind of fats, but we only need a few of them to be healthy.
Some people mistake this fat for transfats and processed foods types of fats that are unhealthy for the body.
Peanut butter is not as healthy b.c of all the other junk they put into it-But shelled unsalted peanuts are healthy as long as they aren't overdone. The fats in the nut are going to work , they aren't being stored in a bad way.
If your are active in life, excercising then it won't even matter-B.c it will be burned off right away anyhow..

They actually are considered to be healthy (see below)
Snacking on nuts may improve your health according to a study in the Journal of the American Medical Association. This study found that a possible benefit of higher nut and peanut butter consumption was a reduced risk of type 2 diabetes in women. However, in order to avoid an excess in calories, make sure to use nut consumption in place of refined grain products, like crackers or cookies.
In another study published in the International Journal of Obesity, consuming peanuts and peanut butter was a valuable way to control hunger without weight gain. This research study discovered that subjects who snacked on peanuts and peanut butter adjusted their caloric intake and they did not add extra calories to their daily diets. The participants feeling of fullness lasted longer with nuts than with a typical portion of other snacks, such as rice cakes. An added benefit was that noshing on peanuts also improved subjects' daily diets. The daily diet improvement was thought to be due to the reduction in saturated fat intake and the increase in healthful monounsaturated fats from snacking on peanuts. These two studies help support other research which has shown that eating peanuts and nuts in moderation does not promote weight gain and may reduce the risk of heart disease.

Well it depends on weather you are allergic and what way they are consumed. If they are in a natural state they should not cause a person any problems, But when you get into processed foods and highly processed foods. Peanut oil for instance when it reaches a certain temperature undergoes a chemical reaction that produces toxic substances. Have you ever let peanut oil burn on the stove and notice how toxic the fumes are. Well think of fried foods your putting those toxins into your body. In a natural state your body can handle those oils in moderation and they are not so bad for you, but if you eat a lot of fried foods they are toxic to your body and you could have a higher in stance of cancer later on in life.

My grandaughter had an allergic reaction after eating some peanuts. She almost died. She was in emergency all night and barely survived. she was only 4 years old. At this time she can not eat anything that has peanuts in it or she has an allergic reaction. She carries a kit with her that she can use if she accidently eats something with peanuts in it.
There are many children that have this allergy.

Because an inordinate number of people have peanut allergies. And those with peanut allergies tend to have severe reactions when they come in contact with peanuts or nut products, even airborne.
