They are so good, and way healthier than the regular beef or turkey - even the fat free ones. Also try tofu dogs. They'r really good, but just get bad publicity. :]

Just had tofu dogs tonight. Stand alone -- not so good, but who eats hot dogs that way? Piled into a bun, with onions, mustard, ketchup, and some relish -- you can't really tell the difference. Same goes for when you cut them up into beans, or top them with chili (though both of those options pack real caloric punch). The two real benefits of tofu dogs are that they're low cal (you save 100+ calories compared to regular dogs) and extremely low or no fat.
Bummer is that they're DANG expensive. Anyone have a recipe to turn tofu into tofu dogs? I have an idea, but if someone has done it, I'd love your insights.

Some are good, some aren't. I agree that the Tofu Pups are pretty gross. If you like brats, try the Tofurkey sausages. I'm not much of a hot dog fan, so I don't eat too many veggie dogs.
Now, ask me about veggie burgers, and I can help ya there.

It really depends on the brand and the spices they use. I've found that most veggie foods really depend on the spice added to make it taste something like it did before. XD Since I haven't eaten meat in a long time, it's hard for me to judge--they don't taste exactly like real hot dogs, but are close enough. I prefer the Morningstar Farms ones. (NOT something called like...Tofu Pups. I forget the exact name, but they were gross ^_^;;) They taste more like real hot dogs if you add condiments, like ketchup, mustard, or relish.

My family eats Morningstar Veggie Hot Dogs and we love them. They are great on a bun, or with fried potatoes, or in mac & cheese (made strictly without dairy - only soy milk & soy cheese). Also great with veggie chili & cheese!

Whatever you do don't boil them! They get mushy and gross! If you pan fry them they are pretty good. They are even better with all the fixins like saurkraut, relish, raw onions. Yummy! Bottom line is that they are better for you. If you eat them only and not the beef or pork ones you'll get used to the little variation in taste and you'll be healthier!! :D Now that's something to smile about.

I only like Morningstar Farms. They aren't vegan. They are full of salt and additives. All the rest of the veggie dogs taste like garlic scented pencil erasers.

Morningstar Brand is very good. At least with the veggie hot dogs you aren't eating lips and assholes.

I think they are wonderful, my kids even eat them and say they can't tell the difference. I have been a vegetarian for 3 yrs now and have introduced different foods to my children and the doc says there are many benefits to this.
