My dad had a physical which included a blood test and an EKG three months ago. Two weeks ago from today he started having trouble breathing and he looked terrible and the color of his skin was silver and his stomach started to swell so he went to his doctor the next day and they could hear bowel sounds up by his heart and lungs and told him that he would be ok. Four days later while he was on his way to work he had a massive heartattack and died instantly. And when the autopsy came back the corner said that he had thyroid cancer!!! And that all three of his arteries were pretty much blocked(90-91-99%) And that fluid was building up around his heart and lungs. And we called clinic to get O2 level and they said that they couldnt give out that kind of information. My fathers O2 level should have gave them a clue that he was not getting enough oxygen. And he had a thyroid gland 5x larger than the nornmal size! His was 155grams. He was a healthy 65 year old man too that excercised daily.

Do you believe that with his conditions he would still be a "healthy" man? To me, this sounds like he was going to die anyway, despite the physical. Doesn't sound like malpractice to me. With malpractice allegations, you have to prove that the outcome would have been different but for the negligence of the health provider. If you have given us the whole story, it doesn't sound like malpractice.

Well I wouldn't exactly say your dad was healthy if his had thyroid cancer and that level of blocked heart arteries. He may have appeared healthy and lulled into a false sense of well being because he exercised regularly.

You might have a case for malpractice.... you should consult with a lawyer. I know that if you show a death certificate your father's health providers should provide you his records. But do it through a lawyer who has experience in this and will do it on contingency.

If you want to pursue a lawsuit, you need to contact a lawyer.

An enlarged thyroid can cause the breathing problems, thyroid cancer is usually slow, so this was probably occurring for years and not caught.
