I have just had a chinese takeaway, (chicken in black bean sauce, and my wife had chicken curry.) I am convinced the meat was not chicken, the texture was not right, when you cut into chicken, it is slightly stringy, right? well this was smooth, and rounded texture, almost slimy, rather like scallops, it was not off, or anything, but my wife said it too, there was just something not right about it,( and I have had a few chinese takeaways in my time) The local newspaper has recently had an article about a lot of missing cat's in my area, including 3 close neighbours. What should I do? take it back? report it? leave it? What would you do? I don't want to get anyone into trouble, these guys work hard. But I don't want people to lose their pets either.I am suspicious, and so are other people in our area.

I work for the local council, should I get the meat analysed by the environmental health department?

The meat didn't taste unlike chicken, but it didn't taste that much like it either. We didn't eat it by the way, I've put it in the fridge until I decide what to do with it.

"thin kaboudit" Have a look in the "Redditch Advertiser" archives for 1979, and you will discover an article on cats found hanging up in a takeaway in Church Hill Centre.also have a look at wcanoodle's answer, and you will find these things DO happen. Please do not call me stupid, and to suggest I move from my home over this incident is absolutely rediculous. Why do you people bother to answer, if you cannot say anything constructive? and as for me being stupid? Pot calling kettle black, springs to mind.Who in their right mind would move from a beautiful Cornish village over a Chinese takeaway? Grow up you ****

Maybe its processed chicken, I work in chicken factory and you can make all type of textures as breast is stringy but some other parts of chicken aren't depending how you process them as it can be minced and made into patties and mixed in with skin and so forth, also the age of the chicken makes a big difference, the older the chicken, the more tougher and stringy it is. Cat meat would be more darker colour and tougher meat. The other thing is that cats are extremely easy to breed very quickly so anyone that eats cats wouldn't bother with the local pets they would just breed their own in quick time. The best thing you can do is go the takeaway and ask, "That chicken you gave me had an interesting texture, I was wondering if you could tell me where you get it and how it's cooked, or is it breast, tenderloin or thigh?" Maybe you can ask them to show it to you uncooked out of interest

Eating cats and dogs in some other cultures is no big deal so it would not bother someone with that background to do that and I am sure you know this, but what to do about it, maybe the public health dept, state or local. I think they are obligated to take your complaint and check it out no matter what it is.

Why is this in the Fashion category??? DO NOT cut your cat open. Take your cat to the vet. When you get to the vet's, call your neighbors and explain what you think happened.

If you are worried about sure have it analyzed. Or have the local health inspection inspect the place you ate, I would doubt that it was cat though. If it was it would make a good news story though!!!

Think about it: skinned, boned chicken meat costs so little, that only a really, really, really stupid restaurant would go through all the hassle of catching, skinning and preparing cat meat & trying to pass it off as chicken. Especially when you consider that cat-meat can be sold at a premium!

If you HONESTLY live in an area where there are other people who are "suspicious", I would urge you to move, since "stupid" is frequently highly-contagious!
