He has genital herpes. He told her this at the begining before their relationship became serious. I expressed my concerns about her being in a relationship with him, but she assured me that she would take every precaution to make sure the virus was not passed to her. Unfortunately, I think she might have it now. I became suspicious when we were at the store together and she went on a mission looking for unscented shampoo and deodorant. The entire time she was on the phone with her boyfriend reading the ingredients of the products to him. I asked her what was going on and she kept avoiding answering me. Finally she told me that she wasn't comfortable telling me right now and that she would tell me "sometime... either when we [she and her boyfriend] get married or break up."
So I guess my question is, when a person has genital herpes, do they become sensitive to scented products?

Yes, you can become sensitive. And you shouldn't judge your friend for loving someone who has genital herpes. Many herpes sufferers can have long and lasting relationships and NOT pass the virus on to their partners. You take extra care and let your partner know if you THINK you might be having an outbreak. There are also suppressant drugs to take that control the outbreaks.

If her partner had an outbreak, he wouldn't want a fragranced soap anywhere near his penis. The open sores would burn even more than with regular soap.

I applaud your friend for having common sense and not letting something like herpes stand in her way. I am sure she is aware of the risks and takes every precaustion.~

People with or without genital herpes can be sensitive to scented products - genital herpes has nothing to do with it.

I have had genital herpes for 6+ years and I use scented shampoos and body washes all the time and have no problems.

People have sensitivities to different things all the time, like medications, scented products, certain foods, etc.

So people with genital herpes dont deserve to have anybody? Is that your arguement? I think people need to accept other swith genital herpes, many were infected in unfortunate ways and its tough enough to have to deal with the symptoms of it, and then we have people like you that are so stupid you think its some disgusting disease that only hookers and strippers have. You need to seriosuly grow a brain. I have genital herpes and my life has been ruined by the stereotypical thoughts of ignorant people like you. If you only had a brain.
