I just got an albuterol inhaler yesterday from the pharmacy. It was prescribed to me yesterday. Well today when I was asleep my dog got ahold of it off the coffee table and punctured a hole in the inhaler. It is useless. Do you think it is possible to get another one if I explain to the pharmacist what happened and show him/her the inhaler or do you think they will make me get another prescription for it.

Lordy,
You're gonna have to get Dr. to call pharmacist. You'll have to pay again unfortunately too. Insurance will not cover damaged or lost prescriptions. Hope everything works out for the best.

Yes, you should be able to get another one. Do you have refills on your prescription? If so, just go into your pharmacy and explain the situation. They'll have to call the insurance company to get an override to fill it before it's due, but since it's not a controlled substance, it shouldn't be a problem. You'll have to pay your normal copay again unfortunately.

If you have refills on your prescription, then you can refill it. If you don't, you'll need a new Rx.
I don't know if you'll insurance company will or will not cover this new inhaler. It really depends. You or your insurance will have to pay for the new inhaler.

I have gone to the same pharmacy/pharmacist for years. One time I had to call him about a similar circumstance and he did refill it but I did have to pay for it since my insurance wouldn't pay for it again. .....

I think you'll still need a prescription.
If you don't want to go back to the doctor's office, ask them to fax over a prescription

You won't need a new prescription, since your doc probably wrote the scrip to have refills.

They should get you another one. You'd have to pay again, of course, but I doubt they'll make you get a whole new prescription.
