There is such a thing as low blood pressure but yours is not. When they say 120/80 they mean those are the upper limits. Usually a bp of 90/60 would be considered low. My hubby walks around with a bp of 64/40 and has no problems except being tired, they can't raise it due to his severe cardiac problems,you should see the expressions on nurses faces when they don't know him and his history and they take the bp and then they repeat it and so I intervene and tell them that he always run that low. If his bp hits 82/58 they laugh and call it high bp!

102/74 is still considered normal blood pressure. There is such a thing as too low, but trust me...yours is fine. When a persons blood pressure is too low, they feel light headed and near faint.
There is also high blood pressure, but no worries...yours is just fine!

After a fainting spell my spouse had a bp of 60/40. That is low!!!! That is also why the fainting spell! When I was in good shape my bp was often around 100/70 so I wouldn't worry about 102/74.

Your readings suggest you are a patient of Pre-Hypertenstion and this can be over come without medicine. Please read the following -
The National Institutes of Health issued new guidelines on the diagnosis of hypertension and "pre-hypertension" recently. Key aspects of the new guidelines include:
- A new “prehypertension” level and merging of other categories. The new report changes the former blood pressure definitions to:
o Normal - less than 120/less than 80 mm Hg;
o Prehypertension - 120-139/80-89 mm Hg;
o Stage 1 hypertension - 140-159/90-99 mm Hg;
o Stage 2 hypertension - > 160/100 mm Hg.
The guidelines do not recommend drug therapy for those with prehypertension unless it is required by another condition, such as diabetes or chronic kidney disease. But the report advises them-and encourages those with normal blood pressures-to make any needed lifestyle changes. These include -
-losing excess weight,
-becoming physically active,
-limiting alcoholic beverages,
-and following a heart-healthy eating plan, including
-cutting back on salt and other forms of sodium.
For FOH staff who detect prehypertension levels in clients, it would be prudent to:
- 1. Recommend lifestyle changes, including smoking cessation if applicable
- 2. Follow-up with additional readings if available and
- 3. Refer clients to their primary healthcare provider for treatment evaluations, especially if they have other risk factors-

Probably not ---I have led a very active life---even as a
stunt man in movies---with low blood pressure ---
But there's more to it than that ! Who did the
Measurements---unless they were done in your
Doctor's office where they are more reliable---you
should take 3 measurements aand use the average.
Have you been a Couch Potato--or riding instead
of walking ? How do you feel ? If you have good
energy---it's better for it to be low than high,
believe me !
But you should have a general checkup if only to relieve
your mind---otherwise the mental effect can make you sick !

Mine was 119/60 at the dentist's office, and no one was concerned. I called my doctor's office, but they said that was not too low. But they wanted me to come in. When I did , then it was 126/84. So it does vary. If the bottom number hits 50, then there's a problem.
