What would an EIN have in relation to this? I'm not going to be using a DBA because it won't be owned by just me (its not an internet or online company either, lol)

DBA means Doing Business As -- assumed name if your business will not be using your given name. It is not just for internet businesses. Every business needs to apply for DBA to make sure that every business in each state has a unique given name (you can't have two Joe Flower Shop businesses in the same state).

Given that you are going to have employees and will have partners, you need to get EIN. The EIN is the tax number of your business, so it is different from your personal tax number or SSN

The IRS website has all the information you need, plus the application
http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/article/0,,id=98350,00.html

You will also have to register your business with the state if your are going to be a corporation, partnership or LLC. Visit your Secretary of State website for business registration (including filing of DBA).

1. If you are a sole proprietor and does not have any employee, then you can use your own SS number.

2. If you are a sole proprietor and want to keep employees, then you need federal EIN number. You will also need State Registration number.

3. If you are a partnership, then first register the partnership. Then you apply for the EIN for the partnership. You will also need State Registration number for the partnership.

Yes, since you will have employees, you will need to apply to the IRS for an EIN, Employer Identification Number, which will be your tax ID number.

in the United States, if you are a one-person operation and won't have any employees and want to work as a sole proprietor, you can use your soc sec # as your tax ID number
