as long as you are willing to do your part as well. and education will not just be handed to you on a silver platter, you are going to have to make the time to squeeze it in between your military and family obligations.

as for career progression/advancement.. same deal. you must do your part as well, don't expect to squeak by doing the bare minimum required, you must always strive to do the maximum and prove to your superiors that you are worthy to stay in. after your first term of enlistment, you have to ask to to say in, it is no longer automatic. if your Chain of Command doesn't get a warm fuzzy about your work attitude, ethic and standards, they will not recommend that you be allowed to stay in. this is ESPECIALLY true for Navy and Air Force Personnel.

Basically yes.

So long as you don't make too many mistakes (that you get caught for), it can be a rewarding career.

Housing usually is provided for families but some bases are short and you'll have to find your own.

Pay starts out low but as your length of service goes on your pay goes up and the opportunities for advancement come up. They will educate you so you can learn new stuff and what you need to advance and as well many of their courses can lead to an outside career (for when you leave the military). They pay for the education and so as you advance in rank, your income advances as well.

You get to travel, live in different parts of the country and the world. Warning though is to stay out of trouble as that can lead to too many problems (especially in a foreign country).

One will not see many college educated people stay for 20 or 30 years in the military. If one has little education and no good jobs in the future "and" everything seems "dead" then the military is all for you. The military needs people like you. The military or fast food. Your choice.
