I have just read the 8 answers, There were no "newspapers" at the time as only one in two thousand could read write. The Romans posted a notice for the (town cryer) to convey their rules and regs, The publica pax, and the temple also put out a notice. Joesph was mentioned when he won the contract to bury the dead outside the city's walls (yes he was rich he had two quarries outside the walls) Jesus was not mentioned for forty years, Most of the Bible was written three hundred years later mainly to unite the many religions of the time. How come people believe in the unbelievable when they don't study the subject?

Jesus public life lasted only about three years, and it took place in one of the true backwaters of the world in that day ... which was ancient Judea and Samaria.

If it wasn't for Jesus, it's reasonably certain that Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of Palestine, would never have been heard of at all.

And it's not like they published daily newspapers back in those times.

About the only stuff that would have been routinely written down would have been legal documents and religious texts.

Jesus himself never produced any documents, and while Jesus walked the earth, he never ordered anything to be written concerning him ... at least that we know of.

Because hardly ANYONE at that time was written about while they were alive. If anyone didn't believe that the person existed, they could just go where it was rumored that they lived and see for themselves.

Things were NOT usually written down at that time. Not court proceedings, not marriages, not deaths, not births, NOTHING. Everything was passed around orally.

However, the fact that anything was written about Jesus so soon after He died says something. Even Alexander wasn't written about that soon after his death.

The Jews were very skeptical even when they saw Him perform miracles in their presence. If you and I remember right, they thought He was a blasphemer & not God's son.
