Blind people do not have a conception of images, colors, etc. if they were born blind. Can they dream? If so, do they dream through touch, since they cannot see?

Hi AndreKLP,

Certainly blind people do have dreams.... We have 5 senses... and it is theses senses by which a thing is known to a man........ If one did not have all senses, there is no way to experience and without experience, there is no dream....

Just because a man is blind, does not mean he cannot see what is going on in the dream..... and if you are told that he cannot see even in the dream, then let it be known to you, there are 4 further senses by which to derive understanding....

with understanding comes dreams.... dreams, come through a multiude of business as Ecclestiastes would say. That means, that dreams are given us by the things we do in life and have come to understand how to deal with life......

But, when a man can no more experience, he will give up the breath. That will be the end of his dreams....

Yes. All the available senses are involved in dreaming, though for sighted people the visual sense is usually the most important. Totally blind-from-birth people dream in the same way and with the same frequency as sighted people.

Dreams are simply a re-stimulation of the sensory and emotional memories which are gathered in waking life, so they may comprise any of the senses and feelings to which we are normally accustomed.

People who have gone blind in later life sometimes report visual dreams as well.

In fact, relatively few people who are classed as officially blind have no visual sense whatever.

well i can't fly, but i can dream of flying.
and in my dream i know how my roof looks like, & how it feels when you're falling 100 meters, how to brake in the against the wind, etc.
so it's possible the blind can dream where he can see too. although of course, the images he "sees" would come from his imagination, & may have no resemblance to what seeing an object really is like
