. I went thru Marine Corps boot camp which was VERY hard! The marines is part of the Navy, but their boot camp is VERY easy! You'll be in for 8 weeks which is short. Check out this site @ http://www.navy.com/about/during/bootcamp/ ;
You can start practicing at home by getting up at 5 AM every morning. Go for a jog for 30 minutes. Eat a light breakfast and then another jog , lightly, for 30 more. Throughout the day, maybe every 2 hours, do some pushups and situps. More jogging in the afternoon.
Rent a rifle at the firing range and SHOOT it. 50 rounds every other day.
And memorize the UCMJ. @ http://www.au.af.mil/au/awc/awcgate/ucmj.htm ;
And enjoy growing up into a real Woman! ......or WAVE.

I went through 6 weeks of boot camp in the Airforce which isnt as hard as Marines, or Army but i can say it sucked!! It wasnt horrible but you wont get much sleep, you'll be standing a lot, and doing PC(physical conditioning every morning early)and hearing drill instructors all day long. But the good news is once your time is up you'll lose weight, be in the best shape of your life and be sooo proud to wear your uniform as an E1, E2. Whatever your grade may be!! Then you'll go to tech school to study. You'll still have restrictions but more freedom than basic!! Then you'll have leave followed by your regular assignment!! Which is cake!! You go to work and do whatever you want(legally) after your job assignment. Youll meet lots of friends(maybe boys) and youre free!! Not a bad life when you can take college courses for almost free and travel for cheap prices. Dont forget everything else is paid for.. Room and board, meals, security, etc.. The beginning is tough but the end result is worth it!!

Boot camp is tough, but its for a limited amount of time. If you can remember that, you'll do ok.
Also, keep in mind that everyone is afraid their first few days, some will cover it by being quiet like you, and others will be very verbal about it. Be yourself.
Remember, you are all in this together. AND its an adventure like no other in your life.
Another tip: remember that the purpose is to get you in shape, get you used to working as a team, and to drill it into you that orders are to be obeyed.
I was very quiet when I went in; but the military was the best thing I ever did for myself. Good luck.

I went through Navy a couple months ago and it started off horribly.
Really, the people will know what you're going through there. The first couple of weeks you're thinking you made a mistake, you need to get out, trying to find ways to end it (any way will do!). Just don't give in to those thoughts and keep truckin'.
For us, it was pretty much all mental. We had to do PT every day but you get used to it and they do not let you quit, which helps a lot. It might be tough mentally at first but you'll get used to it, it will make you a stronger person.

What service? I went through Army boot camp in 1982 and it wasn't hard at all. As long as you keep your mouth shut and do what is told of you. I was a nervous wreck going in. But after a week or so I calmed down and got through it. Remember to study hard on your chain of command they like to ask lots of questions on that.

it's a game. Play the game, do what they say, keep your mouth shut, and you'll be fine. Never heard of anyone kicked out for being shy. If you're to shy to do what they say...you have problems. It's all about following orders.

be mentally prepared and in the best physical condition you can be in by the day you enter bootcamp.
the better physical shape you are in, the easier it is to deal with the psychological challenges of camp.
