I want to be a boxer. Maybe not a professional but at least an amature. But I don't have any gyms near me to train in. I have learned a lot from one of my friends who does box, from practice, and from studying the fights. I do the heavybag workouts and try to spar with him when I can. But I'm still just okay. I don't know if I'll ever be a boxer. I'm only 16 but I feel like giving up. It dosen't help that ever martial arts freak I've ever talked to puts me down for not being formally trained. I live in Newport, N.C. That's almost the middle of nowhere. I feel hopeless.

And don't send me an answer about YOU NEED TRAINING IN A GYM. I already know that, so shove it.

Try buying some books on "How to box", Boxers workout etc. Practice/workout whenever you have the chance. If you have a heavybag, practice on that like it is a real opponent, go three minute rounds, take 1 min. breaks in between. Circle, weave, bob, duck, etc. during the rounds just like a real fight. Try to get or make a double ended bag that will help your timing. It might even help joining a karate class. It will help with the endurance, fighting(sparring), blocking etc. And besides you might like it, but the bottom line is... and you already know it since you wrote it, you need to join a boxing gym. Hope this helps and good luck.

if you never join a gym youll never get proper coaching, or get legitimate bouts to get a legitimate ameteur record. your backyard workouts are ok for now but as soon as you can move somewhere with an accredited gym. ps- you shove it
