Mege---No I am not a God hating atheist like you. I pray for you that you will change before you are totally without excuse having mocked the death of Christ in your place.

I think that you are attacking Atheists because deep down you really are an atheist but just too afraid to admit it. Or perhaps you want them to answer you so you can be enlightened and feel secure in atheism because you want to be an atheist.

Kinda like how those who accuse others of being gay are really covering up their own homosexual tendencies.

Atheists don't mock God. It's not possible to mock something you don't believe is real.

PS. I am not an Athiest. I see you are a conclusion jumper too.

I don't mock 'believers in God'. If a person would like to have an intelligent discussion with me, I am open to it. However, I see a great many posts on here that go something like this:

"Do Athiests realize they will burn in hell?"

"Are Athiests evil?"

"Attention Athiests: The Bible is your salvation."

Now...if someone directly addresses my BELIEFS, I will answer them. If, in doing so, I 'mock' them, I do it in a non-personal way. In other words, I believe the adherence of most people to religious people to be the acme of hypocrisy. Most people don't 'practice what they preach'. There may well be no 'good' that comes out of it, but I know my Scripture pretty well, and I'm always happy to discuss it with believers.

For instance Jesus instructed his followers to 'bear witness' to his light'(John 1:7). This means that you should live as an example. Instead of asking people why they believe in something else, Christians are supposed to provide testament to how Jesus has changed thier lives and invite others to join them.

So...as long as you keep the questions intelligent...I won't mock you. The moment you go over the edge, I will. Very simple...it's all about the mutual respect and it applies to lots of situations in life, not just religion.

You, of course mean besides the fact that it is so much fun.

I can not mock God because he does not exist.

God believers and their silly superstitions are something else though.

Hopefully some of the mocking going on in here actually gets through to the believers.

I doubt if it will though.

Once you start thinking about religion it becomes apparent how false it is very quickly.

You cannot mock an imaginary being, whether it is some god or Santa.

And, most Atheists could not care less about believers and would not even waste their time on them if they would quit trying to impose their beliefs and lifestyle upon everyone else.

Passed by unanimous vote of the 1797 US Congress and signed into law by President John Adams:

“As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion”

http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/diplomacy/barbary/bar1796t.htm

There is not a single mention of God, Jesus, or Christianity anywhere in the US Constitution. The democratic republic created by the US Constitution was the first 100% secular government in history.

And yet:

•Conservative Christians want to replace science with the mythological tales of the Old Testament in our schools.

•Conservative Christians want to deny American citizens the personal liberty, individual freedom, and due judicial process granted them by the US Constitution.

•Conservative Christians want to prohibit free political thought, expression, and protest.

•Conservative Christians want to control the personal medical decisions of individuals.

•Conservative Christians want to rewrite the US Constitution so they can replace America’s secular democratic republic with a Christian-fascist government based on the sadistic and humanity-hating doctrine of their judgmental God - just like the political systems of their philosophical and religious cousins, the Islamic-fascists.

To answer honestly, I mock God and his believers because I think that God and Christianity and all religions of the world are so obviously fake and made up and silly and I can't believe that people really believe that any of that stuff is true. It honestly seems so ridiculous to me.

What's good about it? Spreading rational thought, maybe?

I do not mock you. It is immoral to mock anyone, though I see several Christians this evening touting god's banner and insulting all that does not kiss his feet.

The majority of Atheists, I would say, are distressed that so many Christians do not question and research their beliefs. They ride on canon and scripture without insight and conviction. When we clash, the scientists are founded in reason and research, while the pious are founded only on faith. There's no contest.

Many of us, I would say, pity you lot for being so trusting and so intellectually bankrupt.

It is not mocking to shine the glaring light of logic and reason on the ridiculous absurdity of religion and all of it's self contradicting ways.

When religion is exposed to the glaring light of logic and reason, it is forced to either run and hide in a dark corner like a filthy roach or stand and be shown for the fraud it is.

You may call it mocking, we call it education by example.

Actually I am not mocking God. I am just complaining about a lot of the things Christians do.

ridiculous beliefs deserve nothing but mockery. perhaps you are confused - atheists don't believe that god exists so cannot mock god itself. mocking believers is i think not a very good idea - not moral, tasteful, or generally even persuasive. to reiterate, it is beliefs that deserve mockery. if you had a substantive reply, you would not need to complain that it's tasteless or immoral.

for example:
"the hypothesis that there is something hidden beyond our observance and knowledge of all that is"

wow, the vaguest hypothesis ever. look guys, it's SOMETHING. i'm certainly awestruck.

to the girl who said that...sometimes when you accuse people they really are gay haha. OKonto the question. Some people get off on pain and perverse pleasure of mocking and harming someone beliefs. But it works both ways some christians do the same thing.
