I have a subaru legacy, 96, that recently broke down due to only the drive shaft. I already replaced it, I just want to get rid of it. Should I sell it to a junk yard? I've listed it in classifieds, best I got was some nut who will give me 100 bucks and haul it away, it's worth WAAAY more. Any ideas?

Find out what it's worth, subtract the estimated price of repairs and use that as a starting price. When selling, use these as points to prove that the price isn't bad. You could also try eBay, people buy almost anything off eBay. Just list it accurately.

You really need to find out how much the very minor repairs are because if it is worth doing by anyone you may as well do the repairs before selling it.

If the repairs aren't so minor then selling it to a junkyard will probably be the only option (you should probably find out what they'll sell it to you even if you want to fix it and then sell it, just to see if the cost of repair will make it worth it).

smart $ would be to fix the car, make it run and drive, THEN sell it. i personally look at a car i cant test drive as just a body that needs EVERYTHING mechanically to work when i shop. that means 100-500 depending on the car/how much i want it.
so i dont think the 100 was out of line...sorry...

If only one person offered you $100 --- dosn't that tell you something !. An alternative would be to sell the parts to other '96 enthusiast's, if you can find any !.

Actually 100.00 is about what your car is worth as you describe. Would you buy a car that does not start and are not aware of how much to fix, if possible?
