Constipation is a subject I am just getting to grips with and its not funny as I know. However it seems from my understanding, the problem is the balance of fiber and liquid. No I do not meal drink liquid but food liquid, better known as fruit or as I found out PRUNES! Not prune juice but prunes. You have to take in fiber but make sure it has enough liquid fiber otherwise it will literally harden and then the problem starts, impacted bowel. Therefore its back to watching what you are eating, trying to get the right balance diet and the right amount of exercise. I note that if I perspire a lot, say hot day, chances are I will be constipated, so have to make sure I eat two or three prunes, to get the liquid into the bowel. Exercise is needed to keep the bowel regular, as it promotes the intestine to move food along and eventually out.
It is all about balance, the food you eat, the fiber content, the liquid fiber content and the exercise. If you have a sedentary lifestyle are overweight and are not eating the right foods, then constipation will become a serious problem. Having come close twice to having a impacted bowel, I am now keeping a close watch on my diet.

You should have the colonoscopy done to eradicate any thing serious. It is painless and quick. The Doctor can then see if you have any polyps or any diverticular desease. There is alot of different diagnosis a colonoscopy can detect.I have had it done. All the best.Diverticulitis usually gives pain to the left side.
