I don't want to join the military. I don't want to kill anyone or anything, but I'm a very good shot. I have a Daisy TargetPro 953 air rifle. At best, a very basic competition rifle. I have upgraded the sights to the same rear as Daisy Avanti 853 and a similar front sight, for less than 1/2 the cost of the Avanti 853.
In informal local competition, I've beaten people with guns that cost 2-3x what mine did. I've even beaten people with scopes.
I don't know why, I'm just good at 10 meter air rifle. Out of a possible 600 score (60 target) I find myself getting typically 520-540. I have shot a 572. That's getting into Olympic scores.
Shooting takes patience, self control and hand-eye coordination. I'm not sure how being a good shot can be put on my resume. Thanks.

Join Blackwater. Seriously, you can walk away any time and you get paid extremely well. You can also impress the staff at a tactical training facility (just google tactical training facility). If you were able to impress them, you might be able to get on staff, and with them running multiple schools (varying from close quarters combat (pistol or assault rifle) to long range engagements (rifle), they make a ton of money charging people 2-5 thousand dollars per course.

As far as the olympics, I'll tell you this, you better be damned sure if you think you're going to be able to compete in shooting at the olympics. The people that are at the olympics more often then not have been thoroughly coached, are sponsored, have top of the line equipment, and normally they have a natural ability.

As far as air rifle, if that's what you're good at and you can't adjust, that limits your options greatly.

Try for the Olympics, or, move on to skeet...perhaps game hunting for sport, pheasant, duck...sounds fun.
Glad to see you don't want to be military, but still interested in guns. Good luck.
