Festive doesn't necessarily mean "scarey" or "gross", right? Save the "fright fest" for your sweet treats by decorating sugar cookies shaped like ghosts and pumpkins, or cutting marshmallow treats into black cat shapes. For a nice dinner, though, and something festive, here are some ideas:

1. Centerpiece of a hollowed out pumpkin with florists sponge, floweres and greenery.
2. Candles near the centerpiece along with fall leaves scattered on the table.
3. Table cloth and linen napkins or a Halloween themed one with matching napkins and cups etc.
4. Bowls of candy corn and m&m's
5. For dinner think something easy to cook, such as Pork Chops and Macaroni and Cheese Bake, or Baked chicken and rice casserole with diced green chili's, or a nice beef stew with dumplings.
6 Side dishes can include fresh green beans with bacon and onion or peas and pearl onions, zuchini slices with onion and parmesan cheese, roasted asparagas etc.

I saw on TV once... a lady made a meatloaf and molded into the shape of a body, then served with with spaghetti noodles and brown gravy. Voila, dead man with worms. In the spirit of Halloween, but it's not too freaky.

My mom used to make us "pumpkin" burgers before she'd let us go trick-or-treating. She would just take regular hamburger buns, brush them with a little water, and put sesame seeds on top to look like jack-o-lanterns. They would usually all fall off, but it got us to eat before we'd go stuff ourselves full of candy!

last year we did bloody cheese dip in the crockpot
combined velvetta cheese, cooked chicken, rotell, and red food coloring. Looked gross but tasted great.

My friend made frog tacos. She basically made taco's but combined green food coloring in the taco seasoning mix. Then she topped the tacos with sour cream, and black olives for the eyes. Finished product looked pretty cute.
