The answer is e. The number is 1679. It should leave remainders 1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7, on division by 2,3,4,5,6,7 and 8 respectively. That means, if you add 1 to this number, the new number would be divisible by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Such a number would be an LCM of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. LCM of these numbers comes out to be 1680. Therefore, the required answer is 1679.

the number is e) 1679 .......... you can tell from the first division. all the other numbers are even so all others would divide cleanly into 2 and leave no remainder. only an odd number would leave a remainder of 1 after a division by 2. you can work out the other numbers to make sure but this is the only one that would work with two so it has to be it.

it can be answered by the fact that if a number leaves a remainder of 1 on dividing by 2 then it has to be a odd number. only 1679 is odd among options so the answer is

Answer is E. 1679. only odd number on list.
Clue is first division by 2 giving you a remainder of one. The only odd number in the answers is 1679. so it is the only one which will have a remainder when dividing by 2.

i would say 1679 is the only possible answer because thats the only way you will get a remainder with 2.
