It is spelled "schizophrenics" and I am one. There are many kinds of schizophrenia and it affects all personalities I think. So It may affect "loners" as well as "social butterflies." I personally am alone a lot but I seldom get lonely as I have a personal philosophy, "You are never alone." I can read a book and feel I'm at one with the author and his/her ideas. But maybe the reason I like Yahoo answers (YA) is because I am lonely and crave company that converses instead of just "talking at you" and it gives some comfort in this respect. My emotions are titillated on YA. I get gratification for my output (best answer) ever once in awhile.
Good luck in understanding schizophrenics, good mental health, peace and love!

Some of the reactions to this question have shocked me a great deal.I have worked with people who suffer from this illness and I can tell you its a very lonely illness indeed. No wonder people have practically zero tolerance for anyone with depression, learning disabilities, or mental illness, they fear something they don't want to understand and would rather pretend these people don't exist, but the keyword here is 'PEOPLE' they are not schizophrenics, they are people, they are just unfortunate to be ill, like anyone else who happens to be ill.It separates them from the rest of society in a miserable world of fear...and they feel trapped inside a nightmare that they cannot escape from, their own tortureous minds, everyday, yes it does sound morbid, but brushing these suffers under the carpet will not make their illnes or them go away.Taking medication can drastically reduce these symptoms, so that they can live a reasonably normal life, exept for the stigma of ignorant people...which will continue. In fact, I feel this is a very sensitive question asked by a very caring person, who may have a family member who they are watching suffer. This person needs support also.

AS funny as that is.... It is known that although this psychosis is about multiple personalities. I would say that these individuals are the most loneliest. According to pschologist the diagnosis of a true schitzophreinc is that they aren't aware of each of their personalities. They know some of them exist but they aren't mentally there when each one of them is in control of the mind enough to be like buddies or friends that play jump rope or chit chat. And because of the diagnosis they have limited outside connections so I'd say yes they do get very lonely.

As somebody with "schizotypal disorder", yes, I get lonely, but then ANYONE can get lonely. Don't think for a moment that it's only schizophrenics that can get lonely. However if their hallucinations cause them to be lonely that would be a contributing factor

You never get lonely with schizophrenia is a stupid joke made by people who are totally ignorant of what the disease is.

prolly. crazy ppl dont kno they're crazy, and scitzophranics just have multiple personalitys, so my guess would be that yes they get lonly. just cuz you have more than one personality, doesnt mean you dont want human company.

You clearly do or you'd find someone to talk to instead of posting childish questions.
