I just recently got this cough and it hurts my chest and the back of my throat horribly. I want to get rid of the cough as fast as possible, because it effects my work tremendously and hurts severely. I would like a natural way if possible but the fastest would be the best.

Go to the grocery store, get a ginger root or two from the produce section.
Boil some water, slice up some of the ginger root finely, and drop it into the boiling water for a few minutes. Then turn the fire off and let it steep. Put some honey into this hot tea.
Drink the ginger and honey tea.
Ginger suppresses the cough until you are ready to get rid of the phlegm, and also helps getting rid of the phlegm. Also good for killing the infection.
Also consider hitting the health food store... get some oregano oil gelcaps and take one and some vitamin c with every meal.

Zinc lozengers, which can be bought next to the cough drops, and the generic brand is chearer, which works just as good, also Zicam althought a little pricey it works great and is proven to shorten the duration of a cold, it can be purchased at any drug store but Wal-mart is cheaper. Take care get plenty of rest, and some hot chicken soup helps also. Hope you feel better soon.

Best way is antibiotics from the doctor, but you can try taking airborne found at most convenience stores, try Robitussin cough medicine, and cough drops. I also like drinking hot water with lemon and honey or tea with lemon and honey. The lemon and honey help soothe your through.

Tea with honey, hot water with honey, talk as little as possible. So far as medicine goes, I have had some success with Mucinex--it is a cough medicine in pill form (I started taking it because I have trouble swallowing liquid medicines, but I think it works faster anyway.)

You probably won't believe this and if you are like many people you will say "God" not that.

If you chop up a slice of RAW ONION and put
it in your mouth, (best between your teeth and gums) and let the juices do their work.

Raw onion Kills all the germs in your mouth and throat.

It also is an anti-cancer agent

You may find a "tingling" in your mouth, but
don't worry about it. As the "Tingling" goes
so will the bacteria !!!!!!!!!!!

Dilute some hydrogen peroxide in water and gargle it. It tastes nasty but it does the job pretty good. Just make sure you don't swallow it!!! I always gargle it when I start to feel like I'm getting a sore throat and 99% of the time I don't get sick. Oh and brush your teeth afterwards to get rid of the taste ;)
