I have a hard time believing that mistake sat for 65 years. If it is wrong it can be corrected but first make sure it isn't wishful thinking on your part. The local newspaper in your city of birth would have had an announcement. It may be in their archives or you may have to look in the libraries back issues.

Well, you can always change it if you want to. My sister had her name spelt wrong on her birth certificate. She had to get a lot of proof showing her current name, which included old school records and church records etc. Then they made her get proof to show that she is who she claims to be. I also have a problem with my birth certificate. For the oddest reason it says that I'm a Male. Yes, the box next to the Male is checked. My older sister was born in the same hospital, thus the same type of birth certificate, and I compared it, her Female box is checked in. Now I know I'm not a Male, my proof? I'm pregnant, I doubt guys can get pregnant even with a sex change. So yes, apparantly there are mistakes on birth certificates.

You can order a correction on a birth certificate. It depends on where you live how much it is to change, but for a birth year, I'm not sure how that works. I would probably call the county clerk where the certificate was issued and ask them about it.

Mistakes are made, but I would make sure its not wrong. Parents have a funny way of changing facts around when it suits them... my birth cert. has a different first name then the one I was tought. Because she didn't like the way she spelled it...so when i married I use the wrong name.. Just never know. And I didn't find this out till I was in my late 20's. Anything is possilbe.
If it is wrong, I would check with the Vital records dept were your cert is stored and ask how to get it corrected. Good luck!

My uncle had his last name misspelled on his birth certificate. He had to file with the department of vital statistics to get it changed. They told him he had to have proof with other documents showing how his last name was really spelled. He was 70 at the time he did this.
This is probably what you will have to do as well, only with proof of your birth date in other official records or affidavits from a person with first-hand knowledge.

My Dad's birth certificate has the wrong date. :) He was born on Sept 28th, but the certificate says the 25th. It's a big joke in the family. Dad gets to celebrate from the 25th through the 28th. ;) He was born in Lithuania.

The only way I know to correct this is to have an older sibling or relative sign an affidavit stating the correct year of birth.

It's unlikely that it is incorrect. It's checked multiple times by hospital staff, city staff, etc.
SEEMS ONLY OBVIOUS TO ME THAT YOU SHOULD GO TO THE APPROPRIATE OFFICE AND HAVE IT CORRECTED IF YOU HAVE PROOF OF BEING BORN IN A DIFFERENT YEAR. COMMON SENSE.
