The decent money could effect you getting the Pell Grant. The Pell Grant goes by the previous year's income tax form (for example: the fall 2007 semester was covered by the 2006 income tax form). However, you could still get student loans to cover your rent and school, and I know this from my younger brother returning to college in his 30s with his own house (also had an excellent income). However, you could apply for scholarships to minimalize the need for student loans a little bit no matter the amount. I will include some free resources to help you with this.

Depending on your current lifestyle, and how willing you are to borrow - and possibly give up.... I suppose it's possible. But, with the cost of education growing, I daresay the myth of people quitting their job for 4 years and just going to school is usually that - a myth.
An older women asked me one time (after she realized she still was going to have to work), "Why do I hear of so many people just going to school and not working. Why is that not possible for me?" and I replied, "Because you have had a life".
Meaning....she had a car, insurance, rent, phone, cable, water, gas, electricity, credit cards, kids who still wanted cash, .... She just didn't qualify for enough loan money to NOT work.
Here is a good publication - in the back are the loan maximums you can borrow per year. Could you pay your rent/bills with that? Don't forget, your tuition and fees would come out of those amounts as well.
Good Luck!

I have two girlfriends who are in college right now, and they're going on grants. One is 38 years old, and the other is 40 something, and they may not have the cushiest lifestyles, but they are able to pay their bills while getting an education.
Hope that helps, and good luck You can do it!
