My parents moved me to China with them, from my home in Toronto, Ontario. However, now that i'm here, I can not keep up with the academic standards, and am doing quite poorly in school. I have the option of at the end of this year, to move back to my grandparents home, who live in Nova Scotia, Canada. Should I move away from my parents with them? I'm so confused. I'm thinking that I should, but need some advice? I'm 14 years old now. Thanks a bunch!

I dont get along with my father, but feel bad about leaving my mother. As she does not like living in China, and her home is in Nova Scotia.

It sounds like culture shock for you ... China has high academic standards .. if you feel more comfortable being in a place where you know you'll do better in school than you should go ... if you mother is unhappy there maybe she'll follow you to Nova Scotia ... if it were me I'd move back to where I know ... but I would really try first to see if I can make it in a foreign country.

You have 4 more years before you are 18.
If Chinese was not your primary language growing up, it will be very tough to assimilate it AND all the other knowledge you have to pour into your brain. The longer you wait to learn a language, the tougher it is.
See if your parents will let you spend the rest of your school years with your grandparents, then you can spend the summers with your parents in China.

It really depends. Do you want to have great academics? If so maybe try tutoring and see if it helps, if it does help then you wouldn't have to leave your parents. If you just don't think you can handle it and your schooling is very important then start to seriously consider moving in with your grandparents. It just depends on how important your education is to you.

First, you try your hardest at school...don't do poorly just because you want to move or anything else...this will reflect on your grades through school...don't mess yourself up...but, if you really can't handle it there...well..i would talk to your parents "prior" to your wanting to leave..so they will not think you are doing it on purpose....it will hurt their feelings...this would be wrong of you to do that...and it wouldn't be fair to you or anybody else...(bad grades) and after you have done your best...then they will understand more..and make preparations .....good luck.....lol...bye....
