Meditate on his word (I won't give a def, others already have of the word), when reading the Bible, REFLECT on what you have read. Try to see the context in which what you read relates to the ENTIRE Bible itself. You have to try to understand the Bible as a whole, you can't always pick and choose verses and expect them to make sense.

Another way to meditate on God's Word is to apply it to your own life. How does what you just read effect your life? In what ways? How can you take what you read and apply it if you haven't already done so.

Reflect or meditating in prayer is also good as well. Never cease to pray, but also just stop and listen.

Meditating on the word of God is filling your heart and mind with it.

Read the bible out loud. Read it all the way through. Pray before you read it that the Holy Spirit will increase your understanding of it. Memorize verses and passages. Write them out on paper and make them a part of you. Be grateful and give God glory because he preserved his word to us. Pray for God to bring people into your life who you can talk with about his word. Think on these things.

Lift up the name of Jesus, call on him and ask him to give you light.

edit:

Read the King James bible as much as you can. Do not get lazy and constantly run to man's notes and other versions of the bible.

Okay, what are you trusting God for? And how many times are you refusing to have music on, or the TV, or the radio, or whatever?

How often are you applying yourself to sit in a quiet place just to talk with God? You want help? Okay, turn it all off, shut off the computer screen, and open the Bible. Pick a promise from God's word and tell him, " That's my promise for today. I will trust you God, for that one, I make your promises mine to hold."

Here are some great scriptures to meditate and trust Him for:
3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:

6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.
(Psalm 37)

Trust Him!!!!!!! Just trust Him in silence and tell Him that He is the God that you serve! Trust Him!

Meditating on His Word in my humble opinion, is reading his Word and thinking about it. Such as learning John 3:16 - For God so Loved the World that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him would not perish but receive Everlasting life." Learning that verse or any verse and thinking about it causes it to come alive within us, much like planting a seed in fertile soil. If we learn verses and think about them, they will come to our minds in times of distress and give us comfort. While we think about them - meditate on them - the Words grow and expand, like a flower planted in the earth, and bring us Peace.

It depends what you are trying to do. Do you want to get closer to God? To do that, you would need to read God's word and meditate on what it means to you. You can pick a verse, a chapter, a book or whatever you please and then pray and ask God to give you insight into what it means to you.
