The Bible is against rape and polygamy? Really? Not the Bible I read...

Because their god does. Hypothetically, if he existed he'd be all on his own...probably the only thrill he'd get is voyeurism.

In all seriousness, the reason why Christianity in general (and Fundamentalists in particular) suppress sexuality is that sexuality means female power, and they have to do everything they can to keep control of women with the men.

Think about it. A woman who is free to marry if she chooses to or not, to support herself ( if society would pay women equally) and to fu*k whoever and whenever she wanted, is a woman who is in control of her own destiny and is not under the thumb of some man who, as her husband or father, lays claim to the controls of her life.

The freedom to be sexual is a step women need to take socially in order to get out from under patriarchy. That is why the Fundies obsess over it. They have a vested interest in seeing to it that women stay in their little places and not speak their minds about the inequities of the church, denying the Divine Feminine, which is another way in which the church tries to maintain control over its flock.

For some reason a lot of sheltered, borderline insane people feel that if they don't like something no one else should either.
This feeling is backed up by thousands of parents who are looking for more ways to control their children. If they go to Hell for it, they'll probably stop.
The Bible doesn't really say all that much about it, at least in my personal interpretation (which was open minded to my fullest ability).

Most likely because few of them have ever really had a satisfying sex life. How could they, when they believe God is at the foot of the bed watching them?

The result of all this guilt and repression? Frustration and misery. And we all know misery just f'in loves company.

I don't know. But with all the people in this world who are killing and raping and hurting other people --- I'd think that what people do when the are in private, in bed and naked would be way down on the To-Do list.

I think all the raging hormones and repressed sexuality is what causes that constipated look on their faces. How many in the news have been outed as closet homosexuals?

Christian fundies are basically not allowed to enjoy their sexuality. Everything that gives them pleasure is a "sin."

So, it makes sense that they are jealous of the rest of us, out in the free world, and want to do everything they can to surpress us.

It keeps them from looking at their own faults.

Concerning the post below, there is nothing that shows homosexuality is detrimental to society.

It's not that Christian fundamentalists obsess over the sex lives of others. We believe, like any other reasonable person, that the sex lives of others are their own business. However, if a certain sexual behavior is detrimental to society as a whole (i.e. rape, polygamy, homosexuality) we feel that it is our duty to protect the well-being of society by restricting said sexual deviance.

Legalism. It's all about works with those people. They are not taught to trust God, but in themselves. And you can see it in their messages, the Gospel, all but forgotten and replaced by the messages of sin and condemnation. They have no class.
