You've got to book a place usually up to a year in advance. We know we'll be getting engaged (when my boyfriend returns from a 4 month trip for work). He's concerned that it's bad luck to book the site before the engagement but he agrees to Sept 08. Is it bad luck?

Oh. But I'm a big girl - We'll be paying for it ourselves. And we've been together for 7 years so there's no doubt. He thinks it will take away from the proposal.......?!?!?

no, there is no problem with that, if you want to secure that particular venue then you should book as early as possible to avoid being disappointed.

While it may seem like every site books a year in advance, that just isn't the case. If you both agree on a date and a location, then call that location and see what their schedule looks like. September is not usually a popular month - when compared to May, June or July - so you might be in luck! If you really feel it is necessary, then ask the site to put a hold on the book for the date. Then they will call you should anyone else request your date. At that time you can make the decision on whether or not you should put the deposit down or change to another September date.

I knew also knew I would be getting engaged and wanted to do everything but it just didn't feel right because all the places say congratulations and they have nothing to congratulate you on. I know you are excited but if I were you I would just wait until it's official. Maybe if there is a place you have in mind, you could ring up and ask if they are still available, just so you know. But try and wait a little longer, it won't be too long until it's official then you will be running around trying to plan a wedding in under a year so the time will go quick.

My pal have been given engaged so the bridal celebration (alongside with myself) went to look at dresses together with her. jointly as there, her MOH offered a gown. She wasn't engaged. So, no longer in basic terms did she take interest faraway from the bride, she pushed her boyfriend into featuring i think of that's why they do it. They purchase the gown and then remind the boyfriend that they have already got a marriage gown. She did finally end up getting married yet she became a BRIDEZILLA so I opted out of that joyous celebration. Lol.

If it definately the place you want to get married then lock it in. If you decide on a later date for the wedding most places are flexable, you won't forfeit you deposit unless you don't stay with them. You will have difficulty finding a place you like as much if you leave it for 4 months, so I say go for it. Don't worry about your man, he will be thanking you for less stress as the wedding date comes closer.

Go to your site and pay the deposit to reserve it. Tell them that youll be back in 4 months with your fiance to start talking about the details of the wedding, and the services they offer, etc.
Its not bad luck to reserve now; its smart. But save the fun stuff for when your fiance is there.

I agree with your sweet boyfriend. don't be in such a rush sweetie. He wants you to savor the engagement so he can make it special....it will really take something away if he knows you're already thinking 3 steps ahead! I mean, that gives him no incentive to make the engagement special at all. Enjoy every step of this. Don't be in such a rush to book things.

well - i kinda did. he had a ring on layaway but he hadn't popped the question. i went bought a dress, booked the church and reception about two months before he technically proposed. we had also been together for 6 years before we put the ring on layaway soo you have to factor that in too.

If you are all set and know it's gonna happen, go for it. Getting the right site can be the most aggrivating part of wedding planning, so get it done!
