Computer meets requirments. I installed software that came with camera and updates. Drive I'm using does work but not with camera. I followed all directions it states no action is required when the "found new hardware " help message appears that FinePixViewer starts up automatically but it doesn't

I have reinstalled twice and I have read the trouble shooting section which was nothing.

Depends on your computer operating system what it does when it sees a new drive on the usb port. with the computer running, the usb connected and the camera turned on, the camera lcd should display the USB logo in the top left, and say DSC with a disk logo in the center.
from the computer, go to "my computer" under the "start" button. There should be displayed "removeable disk" with a drive letter which depends on what other hardware is on your computer. Open the drive (double click) you should see a folder called DCIM. Open that you should see a folder "100_Fuji", Open that and you should see your photo files. At that point you can copy or move them to a drive on your computer. Your camera behaves as a disk drive to your computer.
