This sounds like a prankster having fun in a chat room.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

However, this should serve as a reminder about the danger and possible legal trouble this type of chatting can cause.

A. Having your IP address is nothing. It doesn't give any physical address. Only your IP provider knows what that is, and they'd give it to the police only through subpoena.

B. Talking with a minor online is not an offense, no matter what the discussion is. (Sending nude pictures to someone who you believe is a minor can get you in trouble, even if the recipient isn't really a minor.)

C. The real issue is when adults talk a minor into physically meeting them someplace, ostensibly for sex. Another minor meeting a minor someplace is not an offense, although it's not smart on either one's part.

D. The whole thing you described is a joke, put up by someone who wants to spread scare stories.

You have asked this question 29 times!!!!! Stop!!! If the police were going to do something, they would have. Get over it!!!

P.S. Check his Q&A in his profile. He has aksed this question 29 times in several catagories. I wish they would arrest him so he'd stop.

P.P.S. I think you are lying by the way and that the q is about you and you did more than you are saying. If you ask the same q 29 times, you must really be worried.

It was a joke because those people that trap others looking for minors to have sex with them they meet on line wait until you trap yourself to invite them to a place to meet. They don't just report your IP address to the police.

People try to act tough in chat rooms all the time, it was obviously a prank if he wasn't picked up by the police.

Its hard to say, but it does not sound like he did anything wrong. So why should he be afraid of the police?

It is most likely a joke if not a good lawyer should be able to get him off as it sounds like he did nothing wrong.

besides you cant get a street addres from IP number
plus the police would have to contact ISP who had that
IP number but they would also need a court order to do so
