People that has been through the military had no problem giving up their life to protect the rights of others and to preserve the freedoms that other might still enjoy in life. I for one had no problem with this. So the question is would you?

I'm an active army vet (but still in part-time) and yes, I would give my life for my fellow soldiers. But I think thats part of what it means to be a soldier (or military). I would give up my life for my county, but far quicker I would give up my life for those who fought by my side.
They say you go to war to find enemies, but I went to war and found some of the best men and women God every created.

When you join the military (as I did ever so long ago) and steel your arm with the sword, to defend those who have no sword, and take up the shield for those to weak to take up the shield it is tacitly understood you are willing to put your life on the line for others (including your fellow warriors).

But, whether we have been in the military or not, all of us should be willing to place our lives at risk to defend others. Otherwise we would be nothing more than a mass of selfish individuals that would be all too willing to throw somebody under the bus or stand idly by and watch someone being thrown under the bus.

All of us as human beings have to be willing to run the risk of making that sacrifice. If not, the total of humankind isn't worth the steam off of a free lunch.

I am a vet so that answers your question. Six years USCG, Three years NMANG 1989-1991 Gulf War 1 and while I mostly saved lives rather than die to defend others lives and freedom. I made other people die so that those lives and freedoms were preserved.

Well you need to change how you view this, what you should be looking at is 'are you willing to take a like in order to save others'

People dont join the military to give up there life to save others thats the last thing on anyones mind!!

I'd give my life to save others. If I went I'd go as a combat medic or something, partly because I have some medical knowledge and also I really can aim too well :o haha :)

I've willingly risked my life, like you Chili. 98 missions under fire and every single time willing to die if need be. Here's a star- I'd give them all to you if I could for asking.

One Vet to another- Thank You.

If I had to protect my family or other people close to me, yes. I used to be suicidal, so I'm not that afraid of death.

I would fight and die to defend this country and the freedoms it has and I would gladly defend any one who can't defend them selves
