Somebody must be doing it wrong. Study Taoism, you'll laugh outloud.

If you saw how I live my daily life, you would not call it pompous! You might call it self-sacrificing.
Humour is a hard thing to convey on a question and answer forum. We do not get to build an enviroment and lead up to humour. When we do show humour, it is up to the reader to recognize it, often it is misconstrued as hatefulness, flippancy, a cavileir attitude etc... We do not all see humor in the same things, what I laugh at, you may not........

Is it? That is not my experience. Try listening to someone like Ken Davis. Its not boring, pompous or humorless at all.

Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.
When Jesus was on the cross, he called out"Peter! Peeterr!"
Peter ran up to the cross, only to be roughly pushed back by the Roman soldiers.
Jesus again called out "Peetterrr!"
Again Peter ran up to the cross, only to be clubbed and pushed back by the Roman soldiers.
A third time Jesus called out "PPeetteeerrrr!"
Peter, still bleeding from the last attempt, again ran up to the cross, this time getting through the Romans. "Yes Lord, I am here, what is it?" Peter said.
"I can see your house from here!" Jesus replied.

I think that you got something wrong.
Spirituality is full of humour and joy.
Religion..... is quite another the matter.

I don't know about pompous, but I don't see anything humorous about people denying God and burning in hell.

Sometimes it's because so many want to "think" it to death. Humor happens automatically when we humans step back and take a good look at ourselves.

I think you (they?) may be confusing religiosity with spirituality. Two very different things. (see previous post for an example)
