Avoid any of the highly hopped beers A great beer to cook with is from Britain it's called" Newcastle Brown Ale" another good beer believe it or not is O'douls N/A beer. The reason they work well with stew is that they are not bitter , they are not made with large quantities of "Hops". Being that stew requires long cooking times bitter beers reduce and increase bitterness, yielding bitter stew. Not good eats.

I would guess a nice dark beer, not that green skunk beer lol. Try something dark and out of the ordinary those brewery deals. Sam adams makes good dark beer. If you go to a store they might point you into the right direction. You need a recipe, let me know I have quick one with deer meat, can substitute beef, and i have a more technical one. Both soo tasty, make sure you add staeak sauce and worstershire sauce. Lots of spice

Guinness stout is often used as an ingredient in cooking, typically in stews or pies or as a base for a batter in which fish is deep fried. Bennigans also has made it into a glaze sauce used on many menu items.

A stout or a porter. You need a full bodied beer to stand up to the beef.
