I don't know. I don't like needles but I give blood because it's the easiest cheapest way to save another's life. Selfishness I guess.

I don't give blood because the blood drive places won't let me, since I don't weigh enough.

And then, when I go in to have a blood test, one time they took four tubes of blood from me at one time, and my boyfriend was sitting across from me, and the lady said, "let me know if you get dizzy or nauseated" then all of a sudden, I saw three of my boyfriend and the whole room was spinning around me. I was so dizzy, I nearly passed out. I had to sit there for quite some time drinking water and eating crackers and cookies before I was able to stand up, but even then I had to be carried out to the car, 'cause I was too weak. It's horrible. x_x

But yeah. I'm also on a specific medicine that doesn't allow me to donate blood.

Some people are just nervous about the needle and avoid giving blood because of that. Others may have medical reasons to not donate. I take blood thinning medicine and some other medicines that prevent me from donating, though I always did before I was put on these medications.

to donate blood, most blood banks require that you be 17 or older, and at least 110 lbs.

You can't be anemic, or have traveled to certain countries (in Africa esp.). You cannot also have HIV or any other blood-borne pathogen.

And like all above said, some people are just afraid of needles.
