It all depends on what this incredibly stupid thing you did. You need to be a little more specific on what you did in order to get advice to mend the situation you're in. Once you tell a little more on your story then people can give you ideas on how to get out of it.

There is always a way out. Either you can leave your lover/spouse, change jobs, move to another city, etc. If none of those work, you can wait around 80 or 90 years. The way out will find you.
