they arn't required to make a "pastor salary" they shouldn't take money from people in church, "in the name of God" and use it on themselves to be treated like kings.....

The rain falls on the just and the unjust.

But personally....I think if you're filling up your swimming pool with your rain while ignoring hurting people, you're a hypocrite.

TO AF107 and THE RESPONDANTS: Did ANYONE read my response and think I was calling the asker a hypocrite????? He sent me a nasty email today saying I called him a hypocrite and said my "gay analogy didn't make sence [sic]". Anyone want to explain where I made a "gay analogy"?????????

I think its fine for a pastor to buy nice things once in a while and to live 'well'... but its up to him to an extent just what that means. He should not be blowing lots of money on a supernice car And house And bunches of other crap. That is misappropriating God's resources for the most part. Honestly, everything belongs to God anyway. So while its good to have what we need and usually some of what we want, sadly many preachers have made the love of money their mantra and mammon their god. Its when you stop caring that the resources should be used for the people that you love(your neighbors) for God's kingdom and start thinking that all this stuff is yours...
EDIT: also consider the 'worker is worth his wages'. with at least some of those wages, there should be liberty with which people can choose how to spend their money. even religious people!

Why is it that the world can make millions on their job but pastors are "required" to make a paltry salary?
In most cases, pastors also donate a tithe of their salary back to the church or the denominational regional offices to support them.
I understand your thoughts but you don't mention how big the church is. The bigger the church, the bigger the responsibility.

one of the many reasons I love my religion is that all clergy is on a volunteer basis. None are paid. They have their own jobs during the week. I think it makes a big difference. I know that my leaders are there because they want to be, not because they have to for a paycheck.

But as an answer to your question, maybe that pastor has a wife who works. It's better to just worry about yourself and not to make snap judgments.

I think this pastor and others are more of the exception not the rule.

My dad was a pastor and the term "poor as church mice" looked pretty good from what he says. Put it this way, when he moved our family, 2 adults 3 girls to the town I was born in, their entire worldly possessions fit in a small U-Haul that they towed behind their decrepit car.

The ones who have jets need them to fly to different places. They travel a lot, so please do not hate them. It is not good for you to dwell on these things, It brings bitterness into your heart and eats away at you like a cancer. You do not know where they get their luxury items. They may have inherit them. Some may have been given by people who God told them to give. Worry about yourself and let God take care of everyone else. It is God's good pleasure to prosper the righteous.

A pastor driving a bentley is the logical outcome of his success in preaching the "prosperity" gospel.

Of course, there is no prosperity gospel.

Go figure.

He must have a very large church! He more than likely pays his own Tithes. Don't judge him. Take care of your own salvation first. Do you know for a fact that he dose nothing for charities?

Religion is big business, that why Christ freed us from religion like that, the Christian relationship with our Father God doesn't require us to support this kind of nonsense.

Let us say with the Psalmist:
I know, O Lord, that Your judgments are right and righteous, and that in faithfulness You have afflicted me.
Ps. 119, 75.
