Ima teenager and ive been smoking for a few months. I only have like 2 a day unless im hangin out with people. the longer im hangin out the more i smoke. I stop but as soon as i hang out and see people smoking i do it to. Nobody pressures me into it i just do it and idk why. I really need to stop, any suggestions to make it easier. And please no lectures or nasty comments.

Also my best friend doesnt smoke and shes with me when shes with other people so i wont feel left out if i dont and i deffinatly dont do it to be cool. i hate people who do that

That is good that you are concerned now before its too late.
I just quit smoking 3 weeks ago after smoking for over 14 yrs.
I would suggest to try to limit the time you hang out with those that do smoke. If you have a doctor, talk to him/her about some tips on quitting. Try to chew gum or suck on hard candy when you have a craving. Also what I do is brush my teeth when I feel a craving, it works!!
If you feel that you can't quit cold turkey, wean yourself away from cigarettes. Find pictures of diseased lungs from smoking and look at them daily, so that you can train yourself that smoking is bad for the health. Think positive and also don't underestimate the power of prayer, that is what is helping me. God can do anything!!

STOP now before you become addicted!!! Once you're addicted, it's hard to stop. I'd figure out why you feel the need to smoke only around others...are you trying to be cool? Do you feel like you have to? Are you afraid of what they'd say if you didn't participate and smoke with them? It's easy to go along with the crowd, but it takes a leader to be your own person. If you're not addicted and don't want to smoke, then don't. If you're addicted, then you may need to get something like Nicoret or something to help you.

Dont cut cold turkey, you can get a whole array of nasty side effects from withdrawal. Ever heard of Nicotine? Try some, might help. You have to will yourself to quit- just depending on the quitting medications wont get you anywhere. Believe me though, it's a lot healthier if you stop it early. :)

it is sooooo hard to quit later on in life, do it now, it will be the best gift you can give yourself. make goals and have rewards. if you make it so many days without a smoke, you go get a manicure or a new skirt or something. also, it is a good idea to have something to occupy yourself with while hanging out.....gum, altoids, lollypops, etc.... have a contest with a fellow smoker friend and see who can quit first and most successfully...make a bet with someone, get competitive....do whatever you can to motivate yourself and be successful, your future literally does depend on it. best of luck!!!!

PLEASE STOP NOW!! I had 2 relative die from smokeing. 1 MY MOTHER AT 74, ANOTHER MY BUD, MY UNCLE, MY RUNNING BUD,lost him when he was 55. from smokeing. they where good people. please don't start. Imy uncle died 3 months after my mom
