Just enough........

just enough food so that my family can share with others
just enough money to pay our bills and contribute to charity
just enough clothes to cover ourselves and donate to those with nothing
just enough wisdom to guide someone else
just enough knowledge to see the error of my ways
just enough curiousity to want to grow
just enough pain to make me appreciate joy
just enough joy so that I do not forget its source
just enough..................

I've prayed plenty when I was younger, usually when I was miserable over something, but only the passage of time made it better. The one gift I did get, relief from foot pain I suffered with for a couple years, "miraculously" was gone in an instant while attending a Catholic mass on Thanksgiving day 7 years ago. It wasn't asked for but was a gift not to be ignored, even by an atheist, which I am. I can't explain it.

Without a doubt the most important thing I prayed about was the one thing I was the most skeptical about...The Book of Mormon. I was an anti-Mormon for years. I thought they were freaks for believing Joseph Smith. After having some of my questions answered rather nicely, I received a paperback copy of the BofM. That night I read a few verses and then got down on my knees. I asked the one question that I was dying to know. Was the Book of Mormon really the word of God? Did it really come from him? After I asked those questions I was overcome with peace and love. I felt as if my Savior was standing near me. The warmth and chills I felt were...amazing. This is very personal to me, but well worth telling.

PS. I hope the 'haters' have respect for my feelings and experiences to not mock them.

There was this man who worked in the same plant as I, some years ago. He was working on a piece of equipment and for a moment forgot the safety protocols. He fell into a tank of liquid that was heated to 180 degrees F. He managed to get himself out and into a shower, but suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 100% of his body.

His wife was ill, and he was the person taking care of her, which meant that his family was in dire straights while he was hospitalized. It was unlikely with his burns that he would survive.

This was the first person that I ever prayed for where I KNEW that things would work out. This was some years ago, and the last I knew, he had no scars on face or hands. He was nearly fully recovered.

I'm not a Christian, This shows me that faith and prayer aren't the exclusive territory of Christians, but that spirit and faith work equally for all.

My husband
My children
My home
among other things.... all I am equally thankful for

short storey
My son was growing up.... usual "teen" things.
He was feeling quite out of sorts for a stretch of a few days. One day after I dropped him off at his school, I prayed "God please grant my son some fun today"
My son came to my place of work to meet me after his day was done. He was still looking out of sorts - as teens often do - and I turned to him and said, "how was your day". and he said with a shrug... "it was ok" then there was a long pause and he smiles and says "I had fun". He NEVER used language like that! LOL

Inspiration to write my third novel, which has been a struggle but is slowly taking shape. Since it deals with issues of faith, I thought it was particularly important to ask for God's grace -- or rather, receptiveness to God's grace, which is always available to us, if only we will allow it into our hearts.

AVATARD.....I honestly don't know what to say.... I should be saying "salvation" like everyone else...not because they did but because it seems the most logical to me lol... BUT....every single time I get an answer, it feels as wonderful as the last one!

So, how does one choose?

Peace be with you :)
