Tiffany, you sound like me! I have a manager here who does absolutely nothing but sit on his computer and gets on MySpace, chats, and downloads music on iTunes. He even listens to techno/house music out loud in his office. It gets to the point where the walls shake. His office is right next to the Broker's office. Also he is one of three managers but bosses all of the other one's around...including the Broker, who happens to be the owner of the company. He is a huge jerk and hypocrite. He saw me chatting on IM and told me that I could not be on IM. He called me into the Broker's office and had me fold t-shirts and went to my computer and deleted IM.
Anyway, enough about my job. It sounds like you and I are on the same boat! If I were you...I would quit! You're being spread too thin girl! Wouldn't you love to see how the company would function once you're gone? If you can afford to quit then do it! No one deserves to be take advantage of!

To date, I am a senior manager in our company. I started too from way down the ranks. I was the one doing the dirty works. Why, because thats how the system works. Would you imagine yourself being the boss and doing the dirty works? =) Of course not! Also, when you were hired in the company, you have agreed to do what was assigned to you based on the job description and that you can be assigned any other jobs as deemed necessary by the management. Bosses are hired to think. Don't worry, I'm sure one day you'll get to understand and appreciate the system once you're also at the top. Just be patient and open-minded always.

First things first - calm down...it's just a job and you have many options available to you.
Ask yourself the following questions(be brutally honest):
"How valuable are you to the company right now?"
"How easily can you be replaced?"
Just considering these questions will probably give you an idea about how to proceed. If you're the only person in the office getting the work done and making money for the company you're in a much better negotiating situation. If you're just filing, typing, making calls, answering the phones and other duties, you need to realize that you can be replaced. (I'm not knocking admin assistants here, God knows the Earth would probably stop spinning without them - but you need to be ultra realistic before you start confronting those in management in your organization.)

You should get a new job. You can't fix a defective company, and you certainly can't fix your superiors. The most that will happen if you keep aggitating is that you will get fired. Better to leave on your own terms. Good Luck!
PS: Crappy bosses are nothing unusual... you may find the next one isn't any better....

Complain in HR. We did that to get rid of a supervisor. They may be slow at it but after enough warnings in the person's file, they do get rid of them. They just don't want to be sued for wrongful dismissal.
If it is too slow for you, either transfer to another department or get a job with another employer. There is nothing wrong with that.

Frankly, if I were your supervisor you asked me why I didn't do work I gave to you, my response would be that if I do the work what do I need you for. And you would be without a job.
Perhaps you need to learn to work smarter and not worry about who does more work. You should be looking to take on more responsibility. That's how you get raises and promotions.
