ok, so theres this guy who moved from china about 1/2 a yr ago and now he has friends that he kinda hangs out with. We'll say his name is John. this new school year we saw each other, and he smiled and waved and said hi. i said hi back. So this one day John was sitting with his friends and i walked by. his friend saw me and whispered something to this guy, and they stopped talking and looked at me. John smiled and waved hi to me. He always smiles and at me when we pass each other. Today he started a conversation with me even though he doesnt speak much english.... do you think he might like me?

If he had just left it at a smile, I would say that he was just being friendly. But since he took the time and opportunity to start a conversation with you, which he didn't have to do, I would say the chances are extremely high that he does in fact like you. Good Luck

it sounds as though he might like you if he's gone from waving & saying hi to now starting a convo,just go along with him,if you like him too,why don't you ask him to go and see a movie or grab a coffee/something to eat,good luck:)
