Probably should have brought this up when you were offered the position saying you bought the ticket some time ago to save money. I would tell them now. Don't wait, they have to schedule the holidays, and Thanksgiving is the most important part of retail sales when they base their profits on this holiday as a forecast projecting sales. They aren't going to be very happy with you, sorry to say this, but just be prepared for some flack from your store manager.

All depends on whether you still want a job when you get back. You should have had this discussion with your manager when you were hired that you would need to be off during this time. Otherwise, I think you might have to look for a new job when you get back. If you tell him now he may tell you that you cant take off and could possibly let you go. But, he might be a nice guy and say have a good time, see you in December.

You should have told your manager before you made your arrangements. In fact, you should have discussed your travel issues with your employer before you hired on. Just because you are a student and have time off at school does not mean you aren't required to meet your work requirements and their scheduling issues. They don't care about your school time off. You may or may not have a job by not sharing this information.

Well dude squarely put: there's no sign that she loves you. I know the feeling of a long distance relationship cause I live in Germany and my girlfriend is a Filipina. Anyway if she doesnt want to be with you why do you put up with her? Leave her and find someone who WANTS to be with you not just find some lame excuse everytime you ask her something.

You have a part-time job that you are still training for and you want to tell your boss you are leaving the store in the lurch for ten days straight at the busiest shopping time of the year?
If you were MY employee, I'd drop-kick you as soon as you had the nerve to tell me. If you didn't tell me and left, expecting to work when you got back, I'd laugh in your face and boot you out the mall doors myself.
Refund your ticket and stick around for the holiday weekend if you want that job. You'll be expected to show some commitment to work when you are out in the post-college world. Better get used to sacrificing free-time to keep your employment. It's Life!

Don't be surprised if they tell you that they don't need you and you loose the job. Your asking for time off during one of the most busy times of the year.
