I think it would depend on the voice. I was at a wedding years ago where that happened, and it was a nightmare. The bride and groom sang a song to each other and it was the worst thing ever. They both had horrible voices though, and the songs they sang were totally corny. If the voice is decent and the song choice is okay, than it might work. Good luck and Congrats

Sorry, I know most of the answerer's are saying how cute and sweet and romantic, etc. it would be, but if it were me I think I'd actually start laughing if I were the bride! First of all you are putting her majorly on the spot and in the spotlight, secondly unless you were in possession of a Grammy award winning worthy voice I think it's going to come off as comedic rather than romantic. Personally I think I'd be embarrassed for the guy if I were a guest.
You asked, I answered.

I've heard of it done and was told it was lovely. They sang to each other.
Now, this was NOT karaoke. They knew the words and were know for their voices from singing in church.
Personally, I think karaoke at the wedding would be awfully cheesy.

i have seen it twice. once the guy's voice cracked from nerves and then got a few giggles (kids don't know better) and then it got worse because of the giggles. the other time the guy was a commercial performance major in college and it sounded good but most people commented they would have preferred to hear it at the reception...the song he chose (which meant a lot to the two of them) didn't fit well with the overall tone of the wedding itself.
my suggestion - make a tape of it before hand and play that (either during wedding or reception) so nerves won't bother him and if he messes up he can just re-record it.
congrats and good luck!

Lame..not at all..That's so romantic...I like guys who would do that extra effort..eventhough they're not a good singer..but what makes it special is the thought that the guy is willing to do that for the girl. Go for it! For sure she'll love it and the people will appreciate it..Some might even cry =) Good Luck!

Its urs & the bride's day. You do whatever you have to, to make it special. Singing a song for your bride would be sweet & romantic and will make ur bride cry with joy at how much u love her. Best Wishes

I've seen it done and it was a highlight of the evening! He surprised her, which was great because she had done a hula dance for him that was on the program, and they had joked about him singing to her, but he had made it sound like he was too shy and didn't want to, and then he did! Go for it.
**He hammed it up and made a production of it, getting down on one knee and serenading her while holding her hand, then standing up and kinda dacing around with her. I think it can be done so that it's entertaining and sweet for everyone to watch. Gotta do it with confidence though.

I saw it done, not so cute. I actually felt sorry for this poor boy. He was so nervous that his voice was shaking and it sounded really bad. If it wasn't for the music, I wouldn't have been able to tell what song he was singing.
But if it is something you want to do, give it a shot!! Good luck

I think it would really impress your future wife that you would get up in front of everyone and sing for her on your wedding day. It doesn't matter if you hit every note or forget a word or two. I think it's incredibly romantic and thoughtful. Go for it! Good luck, and happy forever!
