This may sound really, really strange but when I cook a ham I place it in a PAPER SACK and fold it up placing the folded side down on a large baking dish. I turn up my oven to 450 and cook for about 2 hours then I turn down to low and cook it all night. When I wake up the next morning the ham is done and the whole house smells wonderful.
Try it and you will see and NO the paper sack will not burn!!!

Pre heat oven to 325 degrees F.
Line a big roaster with aluminum foil, shiny side up.
Place rack in roaster. Place ham on rack, fat side up.
Cook until internal temperature is 165 to 175 degrees F. (May take a couple of hours) Bake some sweet potatoes with the ham!
Allow to stand 15 minutes before slicing.
Enjoy!
Make country sausage out of any trimmings from the rest of your half-a-pig! Wonderful!

wash the ham and bake with 2 lbs of brown sugar, cherries and pinapple rings.
palce the ham in a baking pan put the brown sugar on top of the ham , place the pineapple rings atop the brn sugar and using toothpicks anchor the cherries in the center of the pineapple rings. An average 14 lb ham will take about 4 - 5 hours cooking time -depending on the oven you use and it's heating type, (gas 0r ??)

half a pig should give you one whole ham, hams come from back leg. if he had four he must have walked funny
score the top of the ham,
place in large covered roasting pan,
place in oven at 325 degrees
mix brown sugar with egg yolk. to make thick paste.
after about 1 hr smear mix on top of ham cover it again and put back in oven , repeat every 20 minutes or so for 1 to 2 hours
remove pan from oven and let rest for at least 10 minutes, slice as you need it do not slice whole ham at once, it just dries out and gets cold faster.

Is this cured ham or uncured ham? If it is uncured fresh ham...you would cook it very differently from cured ham. All the recipes people have submitted to you are for cured hams.
You would cook the uncured ham more like a roast loin of pork.
Look on Bon Appetit.com. They'll have some recipes for uncured hams.

I mix Coke with brown sugar and pour it over the ham. Cover tightly with foil and bake at 350 until done. I usually baste it a few times during baking. It turns out good!

Bake on 325 for long time covered with pineapple. Brown sugar and Vernor's. Baste it a lot. Once every half hour. Good luck.
