It's an oriental proverb quoted by Rhett Butler in GWTW.
"The dogs bark, but the caravan passes on."
Sometimes I do things or make decisions that are unpopular ( we all do) and I get a lot of flack for it. I don't always look the right way or behave in an acceptable manner. Those dogs are going to bark, but my caravan just keeps going. I live for me, not to please others or to be acceptable.I read Gone With The Wind when I was only 11 or 12, and that quote means a lot to me for setting that mind frame for me.

I love this quote by Souza...
"For a long time it seemed to me that life was about to begin--real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way; something to be gotten though first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. At last it dawnded on me that these obstacles were my life, this perspective has helped me to see that there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way. So treasure every moment you have and rememberthat time waits for no one. Happiness is a journey, not a destination."
I used to see that life was about to start after something, like after I got my first steady boyfriend or had my first kiss or even got the part I wanted in the Nutcracker performance. But now I see that this, in fact, is my actual real life, and that I should put more effort into my day to day life. Great question! Here's a star!

Hmmm... so many!
I love the one from 'Love Actually' (as dorky as it seems):
"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."
Awwwwwwwwwwwwww... :)
It confirmed what I already knew. LOVE IS ALL AROUND!

"Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And he's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the promised land...
So, I'm happy tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man." Speech to sanitation workers in Memphis, TN, the night before his assassination on April 4, 1968. The world lost a great man.

"Pretty is as pretty does"
"I used to complain about my feet hurting until I saw a man with no shoes"
"For every ounce of punishment you give a pound of love"
I'm not sure of any of the authors. My mother used to tell me this kind of stuff all the time. They all made an impact on me once I understood them.

Teddy Roosevelt once said: "speak softly, and carry a big stick"
I like this because no matter what you can find a use for this in your daily life. It has helped me in interviews, negotiating, relationships and the like. I means to me you don't have to be mean or aggressive to get what you want, and to mean what you say

"The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a Heav'n of Hell, a Hell of Heav'n." -Milton
This line has helped me get through all kinds of trials. Depression, illness, death of close friends. I keep coming back to this quote and it gives me strength, and reminds me that I alone can make a situation anything I want it to be.

"write it off as an experience and try not to remember but never forget."
i made this quote up (i write poetry)
im sure someone else somewhere has said it
so give them the credit.
but yes,
i live by this.
it reminds me to learn from things instead of regret them.
regret brings bad taste
lessons bring wisdom.
