Brown is a warm tone and to add a light blue or light green would really make the trim stand out. But both of those combinations would be rather faddish and will be out style very quickly. This could be costly.
Since you only paint your house infrequently, I feel it would be better to stay in a monochromatic color scheme. Therefore I would go with a light beige or tan to compliment the brown. Use your color in your landscaping.

Stand in front of your house, and look at all the colors in your yard, and neighbors on each side. Prefer your house colors are different from neighbors.
What do you like/not like?
What things would you like to emphasize? [ architecture, scenery, plants ]
What do you need to get rid of?
Suggestions with chocolate or coffee brown:
rose or scarlet
peach or coral
sun yellow
lime or leaf green
hunter or forest green
sky or smoke blue
aqua or turquoise
vanilla or caramel
Paint trim a light [ above, or white or ivory ], and paint doors and shutters a bright shade.

Depends what color Brown.
If you're planning a Dark Brown with Dark Blue or Dark Green, then No. You need to find two Colors that match well with each other, while trying to keep away from the dark stuff.

If you are using a dark chocolate brown then the windows trims should be white.
We have that, there is no accent colors outside, and it is the pretty house on the block.
