What would be the purpose of buying a cd-rw blank cd as opposed to a regular cdr?
Whatever I don't want I can delete right from camera. Any thoughts?

When CD-RW disks were first released, they were quite handy, because you could use them over and over again by rewriting them. It was the most convenient and portable way to transfer/share files and then be able to re-use them.
But that was a number of years ago and now we have much better technology for that purpose (USB flash drives, flash memory, DVDs etc).
CD-RW disks are fairly redundant now, because of their very limited storage capacity. Both CD and DVD disks are so cheap now, that no one needs to worry about having to buy a rewritable disk anymore.
I don't bother with CDs for photo use anyway. I only back up to DVD because of it's much larger storage capacity.
They do make a great drink coaster though....lol

The part about CD-Rs closing are not true. You can still add data to a CD-R but you cannot subtract any data from it. On programs like Nero you have the option to finalize the disc (for CD-R or DVD+/-R). I'm not sure about the data issue with your CD-RWs since I've never used one myself. Are you sure you actually burned the data to the disc? What brand media are you using? Are you burning the data at the slowest speeds? What software are you using to burn the data?

CD-RWs can be re recorded over...the regular CD-Rs are a one time deal..once you have something on there, it cannot be erased.
