I'm thinking of leaving the east coast with all the snow and cold weather and looking for places that are sunny and where the people are warm hearted.

I think it will help you, if you leave the city and move to the country. Being surrounded by trees and birds and listening to nature will make you feel good. Being able to walk upon Mother Earth barefoot and feel her healing energy will help. Plus get a pet that you can love and spoil and he/she will love you back with unconditional love.

I used to live in the northeast..and the gloomy cold winter months were a killer. I moved down to sunny Florida, and even though it did help, I still go through my bouts of depression. I tried moving back north one time, for personal reasons..and I couldn't handle the winter. The depression lasted longer and was more severe up there, so I moved back to Florida. I find it easier to cope with down here. I hope this has helped you in some way.

I moved from Chicago, where I was born and raised to West Tennessee. The winters are mild and it's just beautiful. I live in a cabin in the woods, and the Northern and Eastern states are great places to "visit".

Absolutely... I live in washington. Which has some of the most foul, deppressing weather around. Everyone i know is moving to arizona. Guess it must be a pretty happy place.

Southerners, in general, are warm hearted and it's very sunny and warm in that region. You might want to consider moving to a southern state.

You could move to Aruba, and that wouldn't help.

I once thought that if I ran away from my financial problems, life would be a breeze.

So, I ran, and escaped my $$$ problems. No more issues. I am still miserable. It's something inside of me. No change of location will help that!

We just have to look inside and figure it out.

It helps alleviate depression.

Move to Hawaii or something. Or live here in the Philippines, where the people are always sunny.

It can help, but it won't cure your depression unless you have SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). There is a root cause for your depression and sunshine alone will not cure it. You need therapy and possibly antidepressants to beat it. There is no easy cure for depression.....trust me!

Yes and no ... I imagine the sun might help, especially if you have seasonal affective disorder, but then again, being farther from home, from friends and family, could be a problem.
