Richard Childresses Grandson Austin Dillon currently races dirt late models and is pretty damned good. He will be racing on Sundays pretty quick. Also forget Chub Franks and Bloomquist and those guys. the drivers in the MLRA and the WDRL are superior.Terry Phillips, Joe Kosiski, Steve Kosiski, Al Purkey and Dave Eckridge just to name a few. I just watched them at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City Kansas on Sept. 29 and they were driving 130 mph on dirt on a 3/8 mile track. Any of them could make the jump. Bowyer, Harvick and Ken Schrader raced with them on Sept. 28 at Lakeside and got smoked.

I only know locals, but I can't think of any of them making the jump. Dirt drivers are not always in their element when it comes to cup style driving.
Here's something to think about - Erin Crocker was a champ on dirt, she was placed in the Evernham development program, but she barely turned heads in the truck series, and she is hardly noticed in the ARCA series. I doubt she will ever make it to cup.
Always exceptions though. Blainy and Yealy came from dirt...but are they competitive?

I'd love to see my dad in a Cup ride, but that ain't ever gonna happen.
Shannon Babb comes to mind. But then again, I'm kinda partial to him anyway. He only lives 15 miles from me. I used to watch his dad Greg race years ago.
I don't really know other than him. Maybe Billy Moyer, Scott Bloomquist, Steve Casebolt, Don "The Real Deal" O'Neal, Dennis Erb, Steve Francis, Jimmy Mars, Donnie Moran, Earl Pearson Jr. to name a few of my favorites.
Tim McCreadie has already made the jump to the "Big Leagues."
Gorrilla....thanks for the remind on Weaver!! I've watched him and known him for a long, long time. I wouldn't mind seeing him up there as well.
Butch Garner and Roger Drake come to mind as well. Both of them have ARCA starts, as does Dick Taylor, Robin Huffman, and Randy Huffman.
